Shiatsu Therapy
A Shiatsu treatment is a therapeutic and deeply relaxing experience. It's a form of Japanese bodywork rooted in the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), so it works on the same energy pathways (meridians) as acupuncture, but without the needles. Our first session includes a consultation to uncover patterns of disharmony. We will then choose specific acupressure points to directly address the health issues you presented.

A great solution for a wide range of issues, including stress, anxiety, depression, PMS, chronic pain and digestive problems, and also excellent for maintaining your overall wellbeing. I recommend a session every 2 weeks until the issues recede.
Seasonal Shiatsu
In the Five Element Theory of TCM, each season is associated with a specific element, an energy (or Qi), and a pair of meridians (energy pathways). A Seasonal Shiatsu treatment focuses on balancing the meridians of the current season to maintain health and prevent illness. Essential oils are placed on seasonal acupressure points. Autumn is the Metal Element, associated with the Lungs and Large Intestine - taking in and letting go.

A great way to transition through the seasons with ease. In Five Element Theory, how you are in one season lays the foundation for the next. I recommend one to two seasonal shiatsu treatments per season.

Five Element Style Shiatsu & Me
Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese bodywork method rooted in the principles of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It has evolved into a dynamic healing modality, weaving together movement, meditation, and deep connection. Shiatsu draws on Five Element Theory, especially in relation to the emotions, and incorporates Yang Shang - the art of self care.
Shiatsu is incredibly effective for addressing various forms of dis-ease and disharmony, treating common injuries, chronic pain, and easing emotional and mental tension.
Imagine it as fine-tuning an instrument: when your qi (vital energy) flows freely throughout the body, harmony reigns, and pain or dis-ease dissipates naturally.
My path to Shiatsu began in 2014 with an intensive yoga teacher training with Strala. I'm so grateful to have found Strala, a modern yoga style beautifully rooted in Chinese and Japanese medicine, Tai Chi, Yoga, and Qigong. Through advanced training, I absorbed shiatsu techniques—learning how to move, connect, sense, see, and interact with specific areas, meridians, and points. This ignited my passion for Chinese Medicine and Five Element Theory, inspiring me to continue my studies with Strala, Yoga Medicine and BSY.
I love sharing the timeless insights of Eastern philosophy and practices with my clients. Together, we can uncover the root cause of any disharmony and return to the path of optimal health and happiness.

What can I expect?
During a session, a practitioner uses their body weight and a variety of techniques—including pressure from thumbs, palms, knees, and elbows, as well as gentle stretches and rotations—to stimulate these meridians. The purpose is to unblock stagnant energy (Qi) and restore a smooth, harmonious flow throughout your body. The treatment is performed on a soft mat on the floor, and you remain fully clothed* in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. *Upper body clothing is removed for Aroma Shiatsu.
Shiatsu can alleviate pain, release tension, improve sleep and reduce stress. This leads to a profound sense of calm and helps your body's natural healing abilities emerge, leaving you feeling like a happier, healthier you.
